Over 800 local people turned out in force on Sunday 25th March at the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Tamworth.Milers of all ages were sponsored to do 1, 3 or 6 miles around Tamworth Castle Grounds.

Packed Programme of Outdoor Events for 2012

 

More than 100,000 people are expected to come to Tamworth to attend one or more of the spectacular outdoor events being staged this year.

The arts and events team has unveiled a packed programme for 2012, which includes the return of crowd-pulling favourites such as the St George’s Day celebrations, the Children’s Festival and Fireworks Night, alongside showpiece events to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympic Festival.

St George's Day Celebrations

Knights to do battle again at St George’s Day spectacular 

A spectacular medieval joust is again at the centre of Tamworth’s St George’s Day celebrations in the castle and the Castle Grounds on Saturday April 21.

Falconry, archery and living history are just some of the events taking place during the extravaganza to celebrate the festival of England’s patron saint.

The free St George’s Day celebrations run from 10am to 5pm in the Castle Grounds and bring together a host of activities for all the family.
