It was almost over last week for the archaeological dig being carried out in the car park until heavy rainovernight unearthed some interesting discoveries.
Whilst cleaning up on Wednesday morning Wessex archaeology uncovered pieces of pottery and evidence of a pit; believed to date back to the medieval era. These discoveries have meant further excavation work is to be carried out to delve further into Tamworth’s past.
Art in all its forms will be popping up in some unusual spaces across Tamworth over the next two years as part of a major project designed to create and nurture new audiences ready for the opening
As of this week our car park is closed to begin an archaeological dig; ahead of the redevelopment
and refurbishment of Tamworth Assembly Rooms.
The sun failed to shine on this year’s We Love Tamworth festival but the pouring rain didn’t dampen the spirits of more than 50 charities, community groups and organisations which braved the terrible weather to attend the event.
The car park between Tamworth Assembly Rooms, the Carnegie Centre and Tamworth Library is to close permanently on Monday September 5.

But sometimes working in the same venue show after show can make you yearn for the challenge of a new space so we jumped at the chance to get out of the Assembly Rooms and help our long-time collaborators and friends of Total Arts Community Theatre (TACT) put on the 2016 Tamworth Hastilow Drama Festival at Two Rivers High School.
