Young artists in Tamworth are being given the chance to show off their skills – and win the chance to switch on the town’s Christmas lights.
We’re looking for someone to get Tamworth’s Christmas off to a flying start on Saturday November 19 by throwing the switch to turn on the festive lights.
And to choose the lucky person who will be lighting up the town, we are holding a Christmas art competition.
We are asking young people up to the age of 18 to send us their drawings or paintings on a Christmas theme. All pictures submitted by the deadline of November 14 will be put on display in the Ankerside Shopping Centre from November 15, when the public will be invited to vote for their favourite.
Once the voting is over, the artist who created the most popular image will be invited to join the Mayor of Tamworth for the big switch-on, as well as receiving a prize which has been kindly donated by Asda.
To enter the competition, all you need to do is create a picture with a Christmas theme. It can be in any medium, but must be a two-dimensional image.
Mark your entries for the attention of Laura Hastilow and send them to: Tamworth Borough Council Christmas competition, Marmion House, Lichfield Street, Tamworth B77 7BZ.
Entries can also be dropped of at Customer Services in Marmion House or at the Tamworth Information Centre in Corporation Street. Please make sure that your name, address and phone number is written on the back of your entry and that we receive it by Monday November 14.
