TV star, writer and broadcaster Dom Joly will be appearing at Tamworth Assembly Rooms as part of the new-look theatre’s opening season following a multi-million pound refurbishment project, it has been confirmed.

Dom Joly, best known as the creator of the hugely successful Trigger Happy TV show, will be undertaking his first tour since 2011, giving fans a rare opportunity to see him live.

The one-man show Dom Joly’s Holiday Snaps – Travel and Comedy in the Danger Zone will see Dom talking about his exploits as a serial globe-trotter and seeker of dangerous travel spots.

The rip-roaring travelogue features Dom’s stories from his childhood home in the Lebanon – where he went to school with Osama Bin Laden – to North Korea, Chernobyl and Cambodia. Fans can expect Dom’s holiday snaps to provide comedy coupled with a sense of danger.

Tickets for the nationwide tour go on sale this Friday (September 20) at 10am and are expected to sell out fast. It includes a stop in Tamworth on March 15, 2020, and tickets can be booked online from 10am Friday at

The best-selling author will be available to meet fans after the show to sign copies of his latest book, The Hezbollah Hiking Club.

Dom has remained enormously popular since his pioneering Channel 4 show, Trigger Happy TV, which was sold to 70 countries, while his three travel books have brought him to a wider audience.

Tamworth Borough Council’s Cabinet member for Culture and Operational Services, said: “This is a great addition to the opening season of the new-look Tamworth Assembly Rooms. Dom Joly is a well-known name and we’re delighted to have him come to Tamworth as part of his eagerly-anticipated nationwide tour.

“This is a sign of things to come for Tamworth Assembly Rooms as the newly-refurbished theatre will enable us to attract bigger names alongside the popular community and nostalgic entertainment that people know and love.

“Dom Joly’s Holiday Snaps is sure to be a big seller so we would encourage people to book early to avoid disappointment.”

The TV star will be taking to the stage of the new-look Tamworth Assembly Rooms as part of the opening season after the venue has undergone a major £5million refurbishment. The ambitious project to bring the historic Tamworth Assembly Rooms into the 21st century includes extensions to the side and rear to create a more modern and versatile building, with more space for a wider variety of events and entertainment.
