St Francis Church to host acoustic roots duo as part of Touring Theatre programme

A popular and charismatic acoustic roots duo will be performing in Tamworth this weekend in an evening of ‘feel good’ music from around the world.

Mambo Jambo will be appearing in concert at St Francis Church, Masefield Drive, Leyfields, on Saturday, May 13, from 7.30pm. It is the first show to be performed in St Francis Church in association with Live & Local – a rural touring scheme which helps voluntary groups promote events in the heart of their communities.

Tamworth Borough Council has teamed up with Live & Local for a major new project called Touring Theatre – part of the Arts in Unusual Spaces initiative funded by the council and Arts Council England.

Touring Theatre is bringing a range of high-quality shows to the area in familiar but unusual community locations, in a bid to increase opportunities for people to experience the arts.

Mambo Jambo is next in the line-up and will take audiences on an exciting and joyously vibrant musical journey, mixing styles and rhythms from around the world. They have performed and studied in Salvador in Brazil, and Havana, where they have gigged with established Cuban musicians. Mambo Jambo have also toured internationally and perform regularly at music festivals across the UK.

Tickets are priced at £5 and are available in advance from St Francis Church on 01827 65926, via the Tamworth Arts and Events website at www.tamworthartsandevents.co.uk, in person from Tamworth Information Centre in Marmion House, Lichfield Street, or by calling the Box Office on 01827 709618.
